Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actor from the United States. Known for her work in film and television from the mid-80s onwards, she's been awarded numerous awards including two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett born in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt after being born to New York New York, is well-known as an actress. Bassett as well as her younger sister at the age of five old, emigrated away from the city of their birth to St. Petersburg to live with their mother, who was the separated father. While in high school Bassett watched John Steinbeck's drama Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she would like to be an actor. Yale University New Haven Connecticut granted her a bachelor's degree (1980) with a focus on African American study, and an honorary doctorate (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. At Yale she met Courtney B. Vance a fellow actor and the two were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree in African American studies, in the year 1980.
